Rosie Lee Redmon - Toliver

Rosie Lee Redmon – Toliver was born to the late Matthew and Anna Norwood – Redmon on January 4, 1914. She departed her earthly life on February 13,2016 at Lampstand Health and Rehab. Services were held Saturday, February 20, 2016 starting at 11:00 a.m. at Independent Missionary Baptist Church. Services were led by Rev. Walter Ward, officiated by Rev. Eddie L. Taylor and featured eulogist Rev. W.C. Adams. She is proceeded in death by her husband Ed Toliver; children, Ed Toliver, Jr., Erma Toliver and Earl Toliver; brothers, Oscar and Nathaniel Redmon; son-in-law’s, Rev. Donald F. Adams and Rev. Clifford Warren. She attended Blackshear School and worked various jobs, her last job being at Texas A&M University.

Flora Etta Ridgeway Sessums

Flora Etta Ridgway Sessums, a faithful, loving and Godly woman went to be with her Lord and Savior on February 19, 2016 at the age of 86. Flora was born on November 2, 1929 to Joe and Dora Ridgway in El Campo, Texas. She grew up and attended school in Waxahachie, Texas. Flora married J.E. “Shorty” Sessums on July 10, 1948. They were married for 50 years until his death in 1999. Flora was a member of the Sneed Memorial United Methodist Church in Calvert, Texas. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, “Guinea” and friend to many people. Flora was a retired teachers aid. She found joy spending time in her yard, garden, tending to her chickens, going fishing and cooking. Flora is preceded in death by her parents; Joe and Dora Ridgway, her husband; J.E. “Shorty” Sessums of 50 years, a daughter-in-law; Judy Sessums and a special friend, John Skaines, Jr.

Norma June Hurst, of Gause, passed away Sunday, February 29, 2016. Norma is survived by her children; Cheryl K. Wells, Robert C. Gingrich Jr., Rhonda Avery, and Kelly Gangford. A private family services will be held by Memorial Funeral Home in Hearne, Texas.

Roy Dean Baggerly

Roy Dean Baggerly of Gause, Texas was born September 30, 1961 in Hearne. He entered eternal rest February 21, 2016 leaving behind a legacy of service to his family, friends, and anyone in need that he met Roy Dean was the fourth child of Roy Lee and Nelda Baggerly Roy Dean had a passion to serve others. He was a firefighter for the Gause Volunteer Fire Department, worked tirelessly for Heartfield EMS and Bluebonnet EMS, and was a member of the Hearne Masonic Lodge. In most recent years he began attending Mass at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Hearne. Family and friends fondly called him and his brother Ernest “The Boys”. According to his nieces and nephews his greatest accomplishment was that he was an amazing uncle! Roy Dean was preceded in death by his father and mother; Roy Lee and Nelda Baggerly, brother-in- law; Larry Morrison, and nephew; Wesley Isaacs.

San Juana “ Janie” Ortiz Lopez

San Juana Ortiz Lopez, known as “Janie” was born in Branchville, Texas on September 3, 1937 and passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends on February 9, 2016 at Crossroads Nursing and Rehab. She was a devoted Catholic, mother, homemaker, and enjoyed taking care of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren Janie is preceded in death by her parents; Juan and Sopopa Ortiz, her son; David Lopez Sr., her granddaughter; Tiara Mack, her grandson; Ralph Martinez, her sister; Minnie Magallanes, her brothers; Fidel Castillo, Pablo “Paul” Ortiz, Willie Aleman, and Narcizo “Pete” Aleman, her sisters–in–law; Lois Ortiz, Bethel Ortiz and Mary Castillo.

Janie G. Bermudez

Janie G. Bermudez, 67, a longtime resident of Hearne, passed away on Tuesday, February 9, 2016 at Baylor Scott and White in College Station, Texas. She was born in Beeville, Texas on December 4, 1948 to Bernardo and Natalia (Perez) Gonzales. Janie was no celebrity, but she was well known for her cooking and great personality. Her breakfast tacos were loved and enjoyed by many. Many people knew where Janie worked because of the old blue suburban that she drove everywhere. Once they spotted the suburban, many would stop to see if she was there and they always come back for more. It’s sad that we won’t be able to enjoy those wonderful meals but she did teach many of her loved ones how to cook. Janie is survived by her daughter; Julie Torres and husband Juan, son; Martin Bermudez, daughter; Lupe Alvarado and husband Chris, son; Roy Bermudez Jr.

Louis Steve Rekieta

Louis Steve Rekieta of Bremond, Texas passed away at Crossroads Nursing Home in Hearne, Texas on Tuesday, February 2, 2016 at the age of 93 years old. He was born on January 15, 1923 in Bremond, Texas to Lucas and Mary Rekieta. He attended Box Center School. Louis was a self-employed Rancher and Farmer. He was also a WWII veteran. Louis married Clara Ann Szymanski on November 24, 1951 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bremond. He was a lifelong resident of Bremond and a member of St Mary’s Catholic Church. Louis was also a member of the Knights of Columbus. He is preceded in death by his parents; Lucas and Mary Rekieta, son; Ronnie Rekieta, Brothers; Bruno, Frank, John, Ike, Ed, Stash Rekieta, and Sisters; Helen Wierzbicki and Annie Dutka.
