Hit and run leaves driver with assault charge
Melissa Freeman | Robertson County News
On the evening of July 4th, a Hispanic male driving a truck on Riley Street hit a 12-year-old girl on a bicycle at 5:00 p.m. The girl was sent to the hospital, treated and released Friday night with no broken bones and no other serious injuries despite a “hard hit,” according to one of the victim’s relatives.
The driver did not stop to render aid and drove off with the bicycle still attached to his truck, dragging it for several blocks. Consequently, he was charged with aggravated assault.
Sgt. Chris Witzel was the Hearne PD officer in charge of the investigation and arrest.
