New Baden Jamboree
It’s once again time for the New Baden Jamboree. As you all know it is the oldest on going Jamboree in Texas since 1954. And is always on the first Saturday of each month. This Saturday, June 7, is going to be a super musical event.
Powell the first group to play is one of New Baden’s favorites “Rim Shot” Jerry Williams, Roy Pilgrim and Mike Holt have some of the most versatile music of any group around and are also some very good musicians and vocalist.
They have performed at New Baden for many years with their variety of Country, Pop, Rock and Roll and Gospel.
The second group to perform is another favorite “Back in Time” Johnny Powell and Ray Magness play all kinds of music from country, pop, cajun, and oldies. These two guys are super entertainers and play at several places on a regular basis every week. It has been a long time since they have played at New Baden and we are so proud to have them back. The third group to play is “The Stetson Trio” Dan Woods, Reggie Jenkins, and E.W. Bridwell have been together for many years. They first started at The New Baden Jamboree about 8 years ago and are still going strong.
Their claim to the music world is sounds of yesteryear, which is easy listening and old country music of the 30’s and 40’s. It has also been a long time since they have played at New Baden and we are glad to have them back.
Also on the New Baden stage is Carol Yoakum and her electric Dulcimer. This is her first time at the jamboree so her music is very welcomed.
If anyone was fortunate enough to be at the Dennis Ivey show last month you heard an Earnest Tubb song by Donnie Colwell of Madisonville. He will be back this month to sing some more of those good ole songs by Earnest Tubb. This is going to be a real time at New Baden and you don’t want to miss this one.
The show starts at 6:00 p.m. till 10:00 p.m. and hamburgers go on sale at 5:00 p.m. The New Baden Jamboree wants to thank all the folks who support the Jamboree with their efforts, whether it be baking cakes, donations, or just being there socializing. It is really appreciated. The New Baden Jamboree thanks everyone for the support. If it weren’t for people like you there wouldn’t be a Jamboree.
