The Franklin Chamber of Commerce led by president Steve Conrad came out in force Tuesday morning at 11:00 a.m. to welcome the Franklin Pizza Hut into its business community. “We’ve been talking about this for weeks!” said Conrad.

Several representatives of the Patranella and Zeig families, owners of the Hearne Pizza Hut, Los Amigos (in Hearne and Franklin) and the Dixie Café were on hand to officially open the newest addition to its family of restaurants. Founder Johnny Patranella said that he hoped the new Pizza Hut would serve residents in the northern and western parts of the county—folks that have had to go a long way to get a pizza in the past. Residents of New Baden, Easterly, Ridge, Bald Prairie and Bremond now have shorter drive, and Franklin residents have an eating-out option in their own neighborhood. Patranella added that he thought schools on athletic or other bus trips would find the new Pizza Hut a convenient place to stop to feed students.

The Franklin Pizza Hut is managed by Hearne veteran manager Moises Gongora. Joey Zeig who oversees restaurant operations in Hearne said that one of his long-time Pizza Hut employees in Hearne was moving up to take Gongora’s place so Hearne residents can expect the same quality and service.
