David Lynn Roberson, 63, passed away at his home in Calvert on Friday, April 11, 2014. David was born August 26, 1950 in Lubbock, Texas to Harold Edward Roberson and Opal Weese Roberson. He served in the U. S. Navy on the Navy ship, the U. S. Ranger. In his civilian life, he was a machinist working for Cameron Iron Works. David had been a Calvert resident since 2000.
Visitation was held Tuesday, April 15, from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Heartfield-Ritter Funeral Home. Funeral service was held Wednesday, April 16, at 1:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Calvert. Burial was in Sunnyside Cemetery in Calvert with military honors by the U. S. Navy at the graveside. Services were officiated by Reverend Ralph Powers and Brother Howard Tipton. Jan Manning played the organ and sang “What a Beautiful Day” as a duet with Travis Cochran. Travis also sang a solo of “Amazing Grace”. Pallbearers were David Smith, Guy Mims, Gerald Rainer, Daryl Rainer, Bill Earnest, David Hayes, Jeff Dailey, Joey McKay. Honorary Pallbearers were John McKay and Tim Barrera.

David is predeceased by his father.

Survivors include his wife, Teresa Roberson of Calvert; mother, Opal Weese Roberson of Calvert; a son, Aaron Dale Roberson of Katy; step-sons and daughters-in-law, James Michael Nelson of Waco; Christopher Dale Mathews of Alvarado; Gerry Wayne & Pam Smith of Hearne; David Allen & Bianca Smith of Calvert; step-daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer Lynn and Adam Olexy of College Station; sisters and brother-in-law, Linda Roberson of Calvert; Delena & Rudy DeLuna of Calvert; niece, Brittany Smith and her son, Elijah; grandson, Aaron Dale Roberson Jr.; and numerous step-grandchildren.

Arrangements were entrusted to Heartfield-Ritter Funeral Home.
