Put on your dancing shoes and sharpen your Blackjack skills—THE EVENT, supporting the Boys and Girls Club of Robertson County (BGCRC)—will be bigger than ever this year and moving into downtown Hearne the evening of August 17 to accommodate more entertainment.  This year’s primary sponsors, Union Pacific, Sanderson Farms, ConocoPhillips, and Wilson Drug, have allowed the Boys and Girls Club to line up more musicians, singers and dancers than ever before.
This year THE EVENT will feature three stages of continuous entertainment with headliners Earlywine (classic rock), Diamond Plate (classic rock, country and blues),  Captain Boudain (Zydeco) and local favorite Jade Cinega belting out the standards.  Radio personality Roger W.W. Garrett will be host and main stage MC.
BGCRC says you can expect lots of laughs from family-friendly, Houston-based comedian Brent Reed and fancy steps from the TAMU Ballet Folklorio Celestial and their own Club dancers.  Several other groups with some unique talents are also slated to appear on either the Union Pacific Main Stage, the ConocoPhillips “The Beat” stage, or the Park Stage nestled in Guy Chandler Park.
Casino-style gaming for raffle prizes is making a come-back, along with a food court with tastes of good things from across the Brazos Valley.  Look for wine and chocolate and Blue Bell, along with Ama’s beverage wagon, to top off the culinary delights.
New this year will be water slides for the kids and, as in year’s past, door prizes for those who get a taste from each food booth and get their tickets back in the door prize bucket.
Tickets are still a low $20 if purchased ahead of time, $5 for children.  Tomorrow morning (August 2), look for tickets at First Victoria bank, Brookshire Brothers, or First Star Bank.  Tickets will also be sold at various locations in Hearne on the following Friday.  Otherwise, tickets can be purchased from the Boys and Girls Club website at any time before August 17.  The gates will open at about 6:00 p.m. with entertainment beginning after 6:30 p.m.
