Dorothy Louise Walker Foster 74 of Houston and formerly of Hearne passed away July 27, 2014 in Houston.

Visitation Wednesday August 6, 2014 1:00pm – 6:00pm at Glenn Mack Funeral Home.

Visitation Thursday August 7, 2014 9:00am at True Light Baptist Church 4017 Hamilton St. Houston, Tx 77004 followed by a Celebration of Dorothy Life 10a.m. At the church Rev. Craig Taylor officiating.
Interment Houston National Cemetery: 10410 Veterans Memorial Dr. Houston, Tx.77038.

Dorothy Louise Foster was born on June 20, 1940 in Hearne, Texas. Preceded in death by her husband Melion Foster, Dorothy was the first of seven children born to Albert and Alma Walker, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her siblings Albert Walker Jr., Charles Walker, Arthur Walker, Robert Walker, Mable Walker, and sister-in-law Vivian Walker. From an early age Dorothy was provided with a strong spiritual foundation.

Dorothy graduated from Blackshear High School in 1957 and graduated at the top of her class from Massey Business College in 1965. She became a deaconess in 2008 at True Light Missionary Baptist Church.

Dorothy was called home to be with the Lord on July 27, 2014 and leaves to mourn children Gloria Sims (George) of Houston, Texas, Lisa Delafrance (Trinity) of Manvel, Texas, and Kelvin Foster (Michelle) of Pearland, Texas and step-son Marc Redmon of Hearne, Texas; sister Rose Brooks (Ercelle) of Houston, Texas; two sisters-in-laws Fanny Elam (John) of Hearne, Texas; one brother-in-law; Kenneth Wayne Turner (Staci) of Colorado Springs, Colorado.

She also leaves to cherish her memories, nine grandchildren, Tegan Simmons, Amma Sims, Gary Robertson, Terry Collins, Dominique Foster, Danielle Foster, Dillon Foster, Kaila Delafrance and Dawn Foster; two great grandchildren Joshwa Sanders and Drew Elam; nieces and nephews; four godchildren, Paula Harris, Stephanie Slaughter, Kendell Slaughter and Nina Manning; a host of extended family and friends. A special thanks to Artie Frances for his kindness in helping to take care of Dear Dear/ Granny/Mama.

Arrangement and care of Dorothy were entrusted to Glen Mack Funeral Home.
